WHATCHA DOIN?

Whatcha doin'?
Quick - tell me a few things you are doing right now.
I am:
Listening to the little dog eat
Listening to Savannah sing at the other computer and Law & Order in the background
Wondering if anyone is going to change the laundry or if I am going to have too
Thinking about why my FSA didn't fund tonight
Happy that its Spring Break for the kids
Looking at a dusty piano and Sugar sleeping in the chair
Debating if I want to call back Kelly or go to bed
Wondering if its going to be sunny tomorrow and warm
Thinking, why is Jake going to be okay going to him mom's. I am so worried about him
Drinking Diet coke
Realizing that the alligator skin on my legs means I need moisturizer and need it ASAP
Thinking that I am really thankul that Savan is able to work tomorrow since Mom is sick!
Your turn. Nothing spectacular - just whatever you are doing on this Sunday (or whenever you are reading).

SPRING BREAK?

I have decided that everyone should have a chance at taking spring break.
A girl on my work team is flying to Ft Lauderdale to take a Carribean cruise for a week
My kids are embarking on their annual "get out of school for a week trek"
People all around us are going to try to enjoy some R&R and play.
Moi? I will be working 8-5 and then trying to be creative at the store in the evenings.

With that in mind, watch out we have tons of activities planned.
Saturday 3-midnite, SMART GIRLS CROP, dinner will be served, let's kick this vacation off with a bang!
Sunday 20% off all ribbon
Monday MANY paper lines will be on sale 20-50%!
*** EASTER layouts are due
Tuesday Studio open for free all day, grab a coffee and a friend and spend the day!
Wednesday bring a friend and you both get 10% off of your purchase
Thursday sign up for a class and get 10% off your purchase
Friday, our 2nd Annual LUAU! Gary will be cooking on the bbq and there will be Hawaiian music all around!
Saturday any embellishment 25% off

How is that for a SPRING BREAK?

Why?

Why Scrapbook?
Scrapbooking is extremely personal and we all have our own reasons for our interest in this rewarding hobby. What does scrapbooking mean to you? Are you thinking about starting your first scrapbook? Or do you remember why you started to scrapbook in the first place? Either way take a look at this list. Let it be a help, an encouragement or a reminder…
Why do we scrapbook? We do it to:

TELL THE STORY: to create a record, relive our experiences, commemorate various events in our families lives, build a record of our lives , allow the story behind our photos to be told, and to enjoy and share our memories with our family and friends.

CREATE A LASTING LEGACY: a place for memories to last forever, to be enjoyed for generations to come and to give our memories the treatment they deserve.

FEEL THE ACCOMPLISHMENT: As we complete a page or an album we feel empowered and encouraged - we can finish something! Our accomplishments come in small doses. We get to see, hold, and touch the completed page or project. And that is so important for a mom who is surrounded by the ever messy home or never ending pile of dirty laundry.

KEEP CONNECTED: Scrapbooking keeps us connected to people, events, places and experiences that happen so fast as our lives speed by. We go through so many things in our lives. As we scrap we do not miss out on recording these memories and seeing the progress of our journey.

BE PART OF A COMMUNITY: Expanding our social circle by joining crops or a club, or joining an online community. We make new friends who share our interests. Besides having fun, we learn new tips and techniques from our new scrapbooking friends!

START A LIFETIME HOBBY- we can scrap anyway along our life journey… before we have children, as we start our new family, as our children grow up before our eyes and as our children leave the nest. We can encourage our children to start as early as elementary school and we can continue to scrap with them all the way into seniorhood!

PROTECT OUR FAMILY PHOTOS: provide archival safety of our most cherished pictures and to begin a family history preservation mission project.

EXPLORE OUR CREATIVE SIDE (and shopping!): all of those beautiful scrapbook supplies. We love to find just the right embellishment, paper, sticker or digital element that helps us to explore our creative side (Did you even know you were creative before starting to scrap?) and our albums reflect our own special and unique style.

HONOR TO GOD AND FAMILY : to not forget the blessings that come from the Lord and to remember the lessons we have learned along the way. We can teach our children and their children all about our family history. We pass on God’s love through our scrapbooking legacy from this generation to the next.

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. ~Deuteronomy 4:9 (NIV)

Be encouraged dear scrapbooker! Did you see yourself on this list? Did one of these reasons touch your heart? Did you see a new reason to love the hobby you already like so much? Let us remember these reasons that we are choosing to scrapbook our memories. Be inspired! Be motivated! Scrap!

Check out my Slide Show!

What an amazing experience!

This week was Savannah's Jr. Miss week. It was filled with endless practice sessions, a Luncheon, an interview, Tech and dress rehearsal, many late nites without dinner or sleep and finally a really wonderful evening for the competition. Although she didn't place or win a scholarship she was amazing. So many people commented on her presence, her poise, her bright smile and how natural she looked. She had fun, made some new friends and really stretched herself just to compete. The program is based on grades, an interview, a 90 second talent, fitness and self expression, Savannah drew a question on time travel and she answered very well! We were so proud of her.

Thanks to so many people for this week. Thanks for Tami and Ashlyn for coming and cheering and loaning us your amazing camera, Thanks for Traci for the bracelet and rides, to Holly, Debbie and Liv for cheering her on, Thanks for Jackie, Abby and Aly for being so encouraging and for her bath and body gift! Thanks to my mom for more than you ever will know and to Marge for her love and support. There are so many more to thank.... we are so loved, Savannah is so blessed to have such amazing people in her life!

May you know the meaning to today

Happy Easter

Getting dolled up for the big nite!

Quotes for today.

My 8-5 job this week is a bit overwhelming. I am typically a very "my cup is overflowing person" but this week is a bit off.... I found some quotes that I liked.

I was reminded my word for 2008 is H-O-P-E

Hope is a state of mind, not of the world. Hope, in this deep and powerful sense, is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good

then I found these....

*You put the body on autopilot and let the emotional part of the performance guide you.
*Sara Paddison - The Hidden Power of the HeartStress is inner biofeedback, signaling you that frequencies are fighting within your system. The purpose of stress isn't to hurt you, but to let you know it's time to go back to the heart and start loving.
*Hans Selye - Its not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.

I hope you are inspired and I am trying to keep my head above water, Enjoy the week!

Memories..... and Hapiness

"Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply,
to think freely, to risk life, to be needed."
Are you excited when you see your kids play soccer or baseball?
Do you get that warm feeling when you celebrate a loved one's birthday?
How about those milestones like weddings and anniversaries?
What about the everyday things like hot cocoa while it rains or snows?
A campfire in the summer near the river, or swim lessons?
This is what scrapbooking is..... its taking time to remember that which makes us smile
its taking time to write your thoughts and document just what happened on a day...
come in, we can inspire you, get you started and take a walk down memory lane.

What a weekend

What a weekend. It was full of friends, JR Miss activities, mom and dad coming home, and more. Friday nite Brenda and James hung out and visited, Jacob finished up his housesitting. Saturday was full of JR. Miss. Practice from 9-noon, a mock interview from 2-3:30 and then choreography with Shelleigh. We made decisions on costuming, and outfits. Saturday nite we shopped for an IPOD home and found a bargain at Walgreens.

Here is the costume for her ballet piece she decided upon
Today while I run the store Savannah is meeting with Courtney to finish the ballet piece. This week is full of Jr Miss again, work, pictures, dance, me working out of town and more!

Quote for today: In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.
