Its almost Fathers Day

I don't know about you but Fathers day is tough for me. My dad is a shopper and anything he thinks he might want he buys. I have given him a fair share of cool old dude tshirts, flip flops, plants (he loves to garden) gift certificates and more. I am running out of ideas. I do have some fun card ideas though that I have found on TwoPeas. Come in and make some cards with us. We are open 10-4 today and tomorrow!

Thoughts on TV

So... this weekend I had the chance to catch up on some TV shows..
BUT... I am bummed 'cause most of them are ending now. I feel a bit ripped off. The whole writers strike ruined the Fall and winter for TV watching. Now the shows are over and what are we going to watch?
We are official reality TV junkies after the strike. We are hooked on Top Chef, the Real Housewives, Project Runway, Jon & Kate plus 8, Deadliest Catch, and anything on Food. I keep hoping that some new shows would come on, but who knows?

What are you going to watch this summer?

BEING Thankful

After this weekend of being sick. I am very thankful.
1- Lysol is my friend, we have covered the house, every door knob, telephone, remote, and more
2- dogs are good companions, they don't leave our sides when we are sick, its divide and stick closeby. Yes Mike and Savannah are both awfully sick
3- my mom would have done anything she could to make us all better this weekend.
4- I am thankful I don't have small children in our family, as it would have been BAD
5- My laptop is GREAT. What did we do before wireless internet? I have read more blogs, surfed on twopeas and even watched tv
6- it was a 3 day weekend, thankfully. I didn't have to call in sick today
7- My friends seemed to have had a good weekend, I cheered them on from the phone as to not infect anyone.

Now, my prayer is this... Thank you Father for the small things that make a big difference. Come quickly and take away this flu. Amen.

so... whatcha doin?

I have to tell you that there is just not enough good tv to stay home sick!
I have surfed blogs, shopped, napped and stayed close to my bathroom. Yes, I am still sick. I thought I was on the mend and took a chance and ate a small breakfast. That was at 10am and I am still paying for it. I am sick, tired and bored.

Fill me on in your weekend. Tell me you have done something fun!

What Kristi Means

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life.

You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.

People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

SiCk

Well somehow I have mangaed to catch this flu bug that I have avoided for over a year. I ache all over and I have a fever. I don't do sick well.... I would rather be 100 different places. I had to leave work at 9:30 and have been in bed all day.
Thanks for Tami and Savan for rescuing the store for me today!

The Queen went to Daisy Buckets again and is bringing home treasures!!

TAG YOUR IT!

Tell us your secret--- from James' blog

There is this website called PostSecret that I go to all the time. It is a place where people make their own postcards in which they put their secret on it. They then send it in, and it is published for all to see. Some are very sad, some thought provoking, others scary. The ones that were done the week of Mother's Day where really eye opening. I thought it would be a fun challenge, or tag if you will, if everyone who reads this would make their own Post Secret. Post it on your blog or if you don't have one, in the comments. Lets see what we all have been hiding. Tag to anyone who reads this...don't be scared. Here is mine:

YES there are many many more people who are better at keeping a home, cooking and all that it entails.. I am just not one of them!

NOW I am tagging you! Find a picture, comic or something.... and tell us your secret

Miss Haddison

Some of you will remember Heather from the retreat in the Fall, today along with Sheldon and Sherrod they welcomed to our world,
Miss Haddison.
She was born around 1pm, had brown hair with curls and all are doing well.
What a blessing!
Watch for an announcement in June when the store will have a coming out party for this new princess!

Congrats Hildreth family and God's blessings on you all!

On Thankfulness

I was thinking today about Thankfulness.... as my day was going ary... and came across some great words from a devtional....

It is natural for us to ask help from God in times of trouble or sorrow. It is also natural to plead on behalf of our loved ones. These two forms of prayer - petition and intercession - are vital. But the prayer of thanksgiving, mentioned so often in Scripture and made so eloquently in many Psalms, must also be an essential part of our lives as Christians.

Are we truly thankful to God for His innumerable blessings and mercies toward us? Do we really feel we even have anything to be thankful for? Perhaps, amid our daily duties and struggles, an occasion for gratitude seems hard to find. We may have pressing financial needs, urgent family problems, deep personal sorrows or concerns. We may be only too well aware of the evils of our time, or the sins of our heart. We may simply feel empty, weary, isolated. The evening news, or the events in our neighborhood, may make us feel that talk of thanking God is at best simple-minded and at worst hypocritical.

In reality, the practice of prayerful thanksgiving is essential to acquiring inner peace. Far from being simple-minded, it requires - and develops - a living faith and humility in the soul. One of the reasons God often seems far from us is simply because we do not - even will not - see Him where He is, in the daily circumstances of life He sends us.

Giving thanks to God for everything in our "ordinary" lives can help us to see at last that nothing in our lives is really ordinary. Life is never "ordinary". It is rather a passage from time into eternity. The circumstances that rise before us, the problems we encounter, the relationships we form, the choices we make, all ultimately concern our eternal union with or separation from God.

If we as Christians truly believe that our lives are lived under the sign of the Cross and in the light of eternity, then we must believe that God is with us in all the changing fortunes of our days. And we must also believe that despite natural disasters and human ills, evil is not finally triumphant and death is not victorious. In our lives there are no chance events, no irrational twists of empty fate, but rather the ever-present workings of a provident God, Who uses all means to lead us into the harbor of Christ.

When we begin to feel, however faintly, the truth of this, we shall find much to be grateful for. The spirit of thankfulness is a necessary part of the spiritual discipline of living in the present moment - with God - and not in the past or the future. We cannot know what will happen tomorrow, or even tonight; we cannot change what is already past. But we can be grateful today for the blessings of today - the blessing of life itself, the blessing of communion with God through prayer and the Holy Eucharist, the blessing of repentance, the healing of forgiveness. Even the small, seemingly trivial, moments in our day - the sight of a bird in the sky, the greening of a tree, the laugh of a child, the voice of a friend - speak to us of God if only we wish to hear, for everything of beauty, of light, of love, comes to us from Him.

What do you think?

Then tonight we had the creative movement performance and it was amazing. Those little ones are just darling. We celebrated with smoothies.

I also went to see Michelle and got my hair cut. I love it!

Gearing up for the week

Sunday nites I like to think about the week and try to get a grip on what needs to be done.
Monday - work, Mondays are fun when you work for the government
Savan has dress rehearsal tomorrow nite
Tuesday- work and dance recital. Its always fun seeing what they have done for the yr
Wednesday- Teaching a class after work and having some fun girls come in to make baby shower invites. Its also my friend Heather's due date. We are all excited to meet baby Haddison!
Thursday - work and hopefully planning for the June calendar. We have the most amazing people who help out in our store, they just do it 'cause they love us and they want to make a fun place to scrapbook. We plan ahead so we can have excellent events and attract new customers.
Friday- finally, (wow, I am already excited and its not Monday yet) Its pay date and I am hopefully going to see Michelle to get my hair done.

Fun week at work, with the family and at the store. What more could I ask for?
hmm let's see... to win the lottery, to have peace in our land and a clean home. Now those are lofty wishes...

To my mom!

Mother Told Me
You told me what you thought....But let me think for myself.
You told me what you saw....But let me look for myself.
You told me where you've been....But encouraged me to go further.
You held me close to your heart....But never too tight for me to grow.
You always were my mother...But became my best friend.
Hope you had a nice Mother's Day weekend.

more on chairs...

I was surfing on my laptop tonight watching Top Chef with Savan and finally found the blog I referred to earlier last week in my chair/denial post and I wanted to share it with you all. Its from the Fully Caffeinated blog

I DO NOT KEEP A CHAIR FOR IT

"There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it; I will not entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate.

The reason is this: In my uttermost bones I know something, as do you. It is that there can be no despair when you remember why you came to Earth, who you serve, and who sent you here."Clarissa Pinkola Estes American Author, Poet and Psychologist

I've been looking for a particular mantra, one that I can use to shut out the voices on the outside of me, that threaten to drown out my inner voice.

This is it, "I do not keep a chair for it."

When the noise starts to deafen I am going to acknowledge it, merely observe it, and let it go back from whence it came.

I do not need to make others wrong for me to be right.

I do not need to justify/explain/correct/set the record straight.

I do not need to keep a chair for anything I don't choose to, even if it would please others a great deal if I did.

I know why I came here, I think

I know who I serve, pretty much

I know who sent me here, kinda

I will hold a chair for

I Think, Pretty Much, and Kinda.

I've got plans for them. I will entertain them and allow them to eat from my plate, freely, until I Think, Pretty Much and Kinda grow so big and so strong THEY entertain and feed ME.

In my mind... I am...

Today I took a mental road trip
It varied from a quick Cruise to Baja Mexico... I could envision the cruise ship, getting dressed up for dinner and sitting on the deck as we pull the ship out to sea.
Then I saw myself in Reno with some girl friends playing some blackjack and sleeping in
I then chose a quick weekend in Salt Lake holed up in a hotel scrapbooking with some friends.
I was in Seattle around Westlake center and also in Missoula shopping and visiting.

I think I need a girls weekend away... anyone have an idea?

BEING Thankful

Being Thankful. Today I am so not thankful, I really am not. It was such a Monday at my 8-5 job, but really there are simple facts to be thankful for...
1) The sun was shining and it finally looking like SPRING!
2) I definitely had a DIET COKE for breakfast
3) My mom merchandised all the new product today and some already sold
4) James and Andrea came and worked in the store tonight making fun projects
5) I was able to help Courtney with a lovely mother's day gift
6) Tami and Cori worked for me so that I could have a day off yesterday
7) Mike arrived safely home from Texas, our dogs are soooo excited!
8) I watched a little TV tonight and relax, but I still have a headache.

Its hard to be thankful when there is conflict, frustration or you are worrying about loved ones. But its good, its a principle I am practicing!
