pondering

I was reading today on Brandi's blog, her question for the day..

"What does it take to be a good mom?"
I thought a lot and didn't know what to write, then the store filled with fun girls and their mom's and they just hung out for awhile.... and it made me think...
"What does it take to be a good scrapbook store?"
Chime in.... I will then pick a winner out of your comments and will get a gift certificate! woohoo!

I think what makes a fabulous scrapbook store is a warm and inviting atmosphere. The store is full of many, many samples of projects and pages that can be made with the wide array of products available. The store also must have a friendly staff that is willing to help customers come up with ideas.

When I go into a scrapbook store or a quilt store, I want the same thing...a super friendly staff that will help me recreate what they have put on display. I also want to take in what I have or have started and I want someone who's NOT afraid to give me an opinion. I get so frustrated when they don't help me pick out the best thing. I have a motto I like to tease my own daughters with, but it does have a ring of truth to it..."there's nothing I like less than an unopinionated woman". While there may be things I like less, I do find it irritating when I ask for an opinion and can't get an employee to give it to me! Don't be afraid to tell me what you think!

A great scrapbook store is one that has samples up far enough in advance to make the items before the holiday, it is one where the staff will tell you all about the latest and greatest but won't make you feel like an idiot if you don't want to buy it all that day. It also must have an everchanging inventory, even if it is just rearranged, fun events oh and LOTS of RIBBON!
